One possible hack is to do the following:


> \gresetfirstlineaboveinitial{I}{I}
> \commentary{foobar}
> \vspace{4ex}
> \includescore{chant.tex}
> 

where 4 is the value you want to change, and ex is the x-height of the
current font.

I wonder if there might be glue variables to tweak in order to automate
this effect for the whole document by changing values in
gsp-default.tex.  There might be.
