As Albert said, this problem with the long ledger lines is caused in the
TeX code rather than in the GABC. It also has to do with the \GreLoadSpaceConf
command. I think that it is probably from \greadaptconfvalues (which is
called by \GreLoadSpaceConf) having two lines that both multiply the width
of the ledger line by the current grefactor
("\greadaptoneconfvalue{\greadditionallineswidth}%").
One possible fix is to put in a line after the spacing file is loaded:
\global\divide\greadditionallineswidth by \grefactor
