Hello, I have a question concerning the type-setting of a podatus followed by a virga, e.g. the incipit of the Gaudeamus introits (cf. http://test.selapa.net/gregobase/chant.php?id=1183):
[image: Inline image 1] To achieve the appearance used in the Solesmes books of the virga appearing without any space after the podatus, it is necessary to add an exclamation point: (c4) GAu(c)de(d)รก(ixdh'!iv)mus(h.) If the exclamation point is not there, a small space is produced between the notes. I am wondering if it would be better in this case to change the default behavior of Gregorio to link the podatus and virga together (with the necessity of !); presumably if you wanted to add the space you could put in a / . I think this change would make setting this sort of neume more intuitive, although the change could be implemented in a way where the presence of the ! would not cause any trouble either. Is anyone aware of situations in which you would *desire *a space between those notes of the neume? Yours, bro. Innocent, op
