I put the following towards the top of my "main" file:
\usepackage[papersize={4.5in,1in},margin=0.0in]{geometry}
"5.5in" is the width of the paper and"1in" is the height. These can be
changed to anything. Then put:
\textwidth 4.5in
after \usepackage entries but before \begin{document}
