Since you say "hit typeset" I assume you're using TeXworks. In that
case, the error is most likely cause by the engines not being in the
right place.
Open TeXworks and check the tool configuration for each engine to
determine where it's looking for that engine. Then using terminal,
navigate to that location and double check to make sure that the engines
are there.
