The strength of gregorio is that it is independent of any camp. It tries
to be able to reproduce any book. Not to choose what is is the good book
or the good way. You can produce what you want with gregorio.
Being able to produce any particular book is one thing, doing it with
clear separation of content and formatting is another. Please read on.

I guess it depends on whether you believe (...) gabc is encoding the

Henry actually raises an important issue here. Treating gabc code as the
visual representation of a particular edition has its problems. Recall
the issue at <http://gna.org/bugs/?21793> where, because of the aucta
modifier on the oriscus, the user's supposed intent is being ignored as
it does not make sense in the ligature's visual formation.

If the form of a (non-ligated) oriscus is indeed an editorial preference
of a particular edition, then it should rather be considered the
editor's "house style," and thus set document-wide, either by some
header switch or a font selection (the former could automatically do the
latter).

However, in this case, the glyph desired (let's call it a pre-1985
oriscus) is not available in Greciliae. The pre-1985 oriscus and the
gabc "o" glyph both represent an oriscus, just in two "typefaces". (...)
I think the way to deal with this (...) is to add a glyph to Greciliae
and select it using either a gabc header or a new character sequence.
If we talk about oriscus of same "orientation" but different typeface,
then we definitely talk about the editor's house style, and preferably
the document-wide setting applies here as well.

Well, I see the point, it is interesting but I have no comment : I feel to be not enough competant...
