I'm ashamed to admit this, but I too am having trouble getting
Gregorio running. I hoped the latest discussion would get me through,
but alas no. I've installed Gregorio numerous times, and I always
have problems when it gets to the fonts. And I never seem to write
down what to do for next time.

I'm currently on Linux Mint 17. I have gregorio itself installed just
fine. I tried "make install" (assuming that I didn't need sudo, since
my earlier ./configure had pointed to a path that didn't need any
special permission - make is a tool I've only used with gregorio, so
I'm not totally clear on how it works!) and it wouldn't work -
subsequently it does seem to run, and I'm not sure what changed. If I
run "sudo make install", I get
"/bin/sh: 1: kpsewhich: not found
Installing in ''.
/bin/sh: 1: kpsewhich: not found
mkdir: missing operand
Try 'mkdir --help' for more information.
make: *** [install] Error 1"
At this point, my files will compile, but I get almost empty staves
with only flats and naturals sprinkled through.
Then I tried just copying my old /texlive/texmf-local folder into my
new one: now I get
"(/.../texlive/texmf-local/tex/luatex/gregoriotex/gregoriotex-symbols.tex(load
luc: /.../texlive/2014/texmf-var/luatex-cache/generic/fonts/otf/gresym.luc)))
! Undefined control sequence.
l.96 \ifgreluatex"
as an error early in processing one of my files.

I'm sorry to be a dunderhead, but any suggestions would be much appreciated!
-Michael S.
