If it's 64-bit, can you try the x13as at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gretl/files/x12a/x13as-linux-x86_64.tar.gz In that case the drill, after downloading, would be tar xvfz x13as-linux-x86_64.tar.gz sudo install x13as /usr/local/bin # or similar > x13as substitute was working fine under Mint 14.
