Hmm, I wonder why those libraries are in different directories? Anyway, did you build gretl yourself? I wonder if something went wrong with "make install", in particular the sub-target "make install-lang" in the gui2 directory: that installs the gretl.lang file that is needed for gretl's syntax highlighting.
