Presently I think that SGR as the default wasn't a bad idea after all.
And I agree with you. HTML is not my favorite either.

Hmm.... I wonder if instead of talking about a graphical WYSIWYWYWG
(what-you-see-is-what-you wish-you-would-get) tool, wouldn't be better
to promote the use of troff (or some of the macro packages) as an
output target for XML transform tools such as Open Jade and OpenSP...
