I am pleased to announce the availability of a groff
compatibility mode and macro set in Heirloom troff
<http://heirloom.sourceforge.net/doctools.html>. In
this mode, Heirloom troff is currently able to
- interpret output from GNU tbl, eqn, and pic
- use the -ms macros from groff
- format the -mom example documents.
There are incompatibilities left - font management and picture
inclusion are different, escape sequences for text and fill colors
are not supported - and certainly also bugs. Nevertheless, it is
ready for public testing.
