Then I renew my earlier prodding about moving the project to a modern
VCS.  I'll try to be cooperative and develop the updating habits you
want, but I feel that at this point, the ChangeLog has just become
annoying overhead.

I don't actually know git or hg, but I think I'd prefer the overhead of
learning one of them to the present situation.
