True if it were emulating only typewriters, but fixed-width fonts are
still very common in terminal emulators. So a font that emulates that
aspect of characters to be typed at the terminal is a helpful cue to
readers. (Not a defense of Courier itself, but of monospace fonts in
certain contexts.)
Right. We can emulate the nonsense typewriter /emulators/ do.
I do think that we shouldn’t do that, either.
