Hi folks, Here's what I had in my working copy when I got pulled away. It's passing all the automated tests (including new ones) so I could have pushed, but I expect that the ideas of aligning what I call "truncated" if/ie/el request handling with AT&T troff, and the retirement of GNU troff's "el" warning category, should get mooted beyond the Savannah tickets in which in they arose.
I think these are the right direction to go, but recognizing that I may lack time to workshop these changes to the extent I prefer, I wanted to share them here. Also, if I get hit by a bus, this work won't be lost. But my plan to is keep looking both ways before stepping into the street. I thank the people who emailed me privately to express their condolences. This event was sudden but not unexpected. I don't want to preach, but make sure the people you care about know how much you do. The time it takes to say so is never wasted. I don't think I screwed that up, but losing someone hurts plenty without that added factor. I hope to return with professional detachment soon. Regards, Branden
