Dear draft-ietf-idr-bgp-model authors,

I understand that draft-ietf-idr-bgp-model is under status "Waiting for
Implementation".

Please consider updating the RIB statistics with statistics currently being
collected by BMP implementations

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7854#section-4.8
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8671#section-6.2
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9069#section-5.6
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ietf-grow-bmp-bgp-rib-stats

>From an operators perspective that would ease the future transition from
>management plane (peer state and RIB statistics) metrics from BMP to YANG-Push.

Best wishes
Thomas

Dear grow, dear authors,

I support the publication of this document.

It sharpens the scope of the previously
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7854#section-4.8 defined Stats Reports
and ads valuable statistical insights into suppressed, how-many paths left
until threshold reached, ROA validation etc. This will ease network operation
of the BGP process.

I agree with the authors that type 0 wasn't much useful and the Type 22
definition is what network operators need. I like that all measured values are
in gauges which require no post processing for TSDB ingestion.

I reviewed the document. Please consider below editorial related remarks.

I see that there is no document shepherd being assigned yet. In case you need
one, I am happy to shepherd.

Best wishes
Thomas

Be aware: This is an external email.

This email begins a two-week WGLC on:

Definition For New BGP Monitoring Protocol (BMP) Statistics Types
     https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-grow-bmp-bgp-rib-stats/08/

Abstract:

    """
RFC 7854 defines different BGP Monitoring Protocol (BMP) statistics
message types to observe events that occur on a monitored router.
This document defines new statistics type to monitor BMP Adj-RIB-In
and Adj-RIB-Out Routing Information Bases (RIBs).
    """

Please take time to review this draft and post comments by Jun 1st 2025.

Questions, suggestions, supportive comments, and objections are welcomed.

In parallel there will be another email shortly for the IPR poll.
