It looks like for every notification I invoke using iPhonesque the
error gets written. It does not lock up the system.

Agreed, but the fact remains that the lock-ups were getting more
frequent until I disabled Growl and since then everything has been
perfectly stable. I've re-enabled Growl and set the display style to
Smoke, so I'll see whether I get the crashes again.
