I guess that answers my question indirectly. Growl 1.2 is NOT compatible
with OS 10.4.11

I didn't make myself clear. What I meant to say was, pressing the Stop
Growl button will turn Growl off. In that case it may as well be
uninstalled until my OS is updated and I can install Growl 1.2.

Anyway, you've answered my questions OK.

As I was writing this, yet another 'Update Available' notice appeared
before I could uncheck the box 8^)
