Hello and BOnjour THis is my first post. JUst wanted to greet everyone first of all.
Now onto the grit: I like the concept of growl and i'm sure that for a sighted person its pretty cool to have notifications pop up which don't take over your whole attention or make weird sounds like pigs in a slaughterhouse. I am, on the other hand, a blind mac user and i was wondering if you guys could create an empty thematic which doesn't pop up and gives only sound cues for various notifications. Let me elaborate: With voice over on, each growl alert, when it is graphical, notifies voice over that there is a window popping up. The former then sounds the alert by saying "system has new window" and if there are sounds associated to it, they play. The "system has new window" repeating itself all the time as growl notifications come are seriously annoying and they defeat the purpose of the app altogether for a voice over user. I was wondering if by creating an empty shell theme with no alerts sent to open windows etc, it would allow growl to just notify by sound with the same paremeter choices as all other themes. So basically we wouldn't have to hear "system has new window" and only the sound of choosing for each type of notification would alert us of an event. Second subject: The voice theme is in theory very usefull for a blind user, for example for skype chats. THis allows us to hear the incoming chats with the voice of our choosing in the growl paremeters. Again, the small problem here is that the chosen voice is not linked to the system voice. In this i mean that the voice speaks at a default speed pitch and intonation, which is set within the growl coding. And to most blind users, the voice is painfully slow.
