Growl 1.2.x does not utilize gntp. Growl 2.0 will. We're not accepting bug 
requests about Growl 2.0 until we enter the beta phase. There is no ETA on when 
Growl 2.0 will be in beta.

That all said, neat that there is a java library being created.
