Only when you keep the mouse still in order to close several consecutive notifications. When you want to skip one and close the one after it, this makes that harder because then you're chasing moving targets. I do agree that they should do this; it just needs a lot of thinking about to make sure it doesn't end up less of a help than a hindrance.
