I would suspect that this was not a Growl notification. We know Skype uses its
own notifier for at least some things.

First, make sure the “Hide all notifications” checkbox on the Growl preference
pane is unchecked.

This is a simple application that we know works correctly with Growl. Please
let us know whether it is able to get a notification through.
