I just updated to the latest & greatest version of Growl & GrowMail. Unfortunately, GrowMail is no longer working. It shows up in my system preferences pane & in my mail preferences & 'Enable GrowMail' is checked. I opened up NetNewsWire to see if Growl was working at all and I did get a notification. Here are the specs on my mac:
