I have the same problem, but the notification goes away when quitting Growl. However, it doesn't go away when pausing Growl.
There was previously a menu option to restart growl, which would be useful here. It's also useful if my screen fills with sticky notifications. The menu now lets me quit Growl, but then the menu goes away, and I have to dig around in the Finder to start Growl again.
