I wasn't actually paying attention and forgot that this version added growl support! When I first setup growl on Lion (in December) I remember deleting all my apps from the Growl Settings window. Yesterday, I probably logged out (I don't run as an admin user), updated Thunderbird using their update system, logged back in and notices started appearing. As far as I can tell it just all started working like it's supposed to. Haven't done anything with Firefox 11 yet.
