Hello, thanks for posting this. This should serve as a nice stopgap till Growl 2.0 is released (we are getting there, beta is progressing well). Note that this plugin will get disabled by Growl 2.0 once it is out, as we changed the plugin architecture significantly. Im not sure how well your method of modifying icon data displayed would work with the 2.0 version as it is sandboxed (Also, our internal forwarder likely can't do it, Apple has told us they don't want apps spoofing NC icons to avoid confusion over what app sent things).
