This is a known issue with 2.0 which is "fixed" in 2.0.1. Due to the fact
that Growl is now sandboxed we can no longer follow arbitrary paths to get
icons for display as part of the notification. In 2.0 the applescript code
just silently failed to get access to the icon and as a result decided not
to display the notification at all. In 2.0.1 a message will be logged to
console indicating that icon from location is deprecated and provide url
where the developer of the app can go to find out how to work around this
limitation. The other difference in 2.0.1 is that the notification will
display with AppleScript Editor.app's icon rather than display nothing at
all. So he's half right, a change did happen on the Growl side, and there
is a corresponding change that'll need to happen in his use of the
applescript api.
