So I just ran sparrow on 10.8 and it appears you are not given a choice to use Growl anymore. On 10.7 the checkbox says "use growl notifications" and on 10.8 it just says "use notifications". This tells me that they have put the conditional check in the Sparrow side of things that says if you're on 10.8 only use notification center.
