Hello, so the App store is kind of an overzealous installation checker, it looks anywhere spotlight can (including dev folders, backups, etc). To find any other copies of Growl that might be around (including old pref panes that for some reason might not have been uninstalled), you can use our GrowlVersionDetective's first tab.
