Unfortunately Growl 1.3+ (including 2.0) uses an entirely different networking system from Growl 1.2.x and older. The old system was unreliable, and even trouble shooting it was nigh impossible, so we replaced it in 1.3 with GNTP, which is cross platform/language friendly. The two systems use different ports, and different protocols, and different Bonjour service names, so they wont show up across versions. There is no direct way to make 1.2.2 talk to 1.3+, and unfortunately https://github.com/kfdm/gntp-regrowl is for the wrong direction (forwarding notes from 1.3+ to 1.2 and older).
So, some options, if you can upgrade your server to 10.7, that would be one option. Another would be to build an old style growl display that can talk over GNTP, and another would be to build a bridge to regrowl from 1.2.x to 1.3+. Obviously the last two would take some skills at programming. The plugin would probably be easiest, as you could call out to a script that used any of the numerous languages that has a GNTP sender implementation. Sorry that this is so difficult, but once we added the new protocol, none of us have wanted to touch the old one ever again.
