I am having some very strange behaviour with Growl 1.2.2. (I've just
upgraded to 1.2.2 this morning, before that I was on 1.2. I'm running OSX
10.6.8.)

I have several applescript programs which use Growl, and I must say I
really like it for them. I'm using it more and more in this way. But a
couple of months ago I noticed that when I went to configure Growl for them
in the System Preferences pane, the topmost registered application (which
happens to be one of my applescripts) had become very "pushy". Let's call
this app Foo. If I'm trying to configure another one, let's call it Bar,
and I take too long in the Notifications tab (select the app, press
Configure and then Notifications), suddenly the tab gets taken over by the
settings for Foo! The Notification popup menu is populated with Foo's
registered notifications, and the other popups are set to appropriate
values FOR FOO. I have to go back to the apps list and start again with
Bar.

I tried hacking the plist files for each of my applescript apps, so that
they had a different creator OS type code, but that didn't help, so I set
them back to "????".

I have got pretty good at working very quickly in the Notifications tab,
and I don't do this setup work very often, so whilst it's annoying, I
decided I could live with it.

This morning I decided I was sick of it though, and went looking for an
upgrade, hoping the problem had been resolved. I installed 1.2.2 and found
that none of my Growling applescripts were able to work any more. Sigh.
So I uninstalled Growl completely, trashed everything I could find to do
with Growl, restarted, and reinstalled Growl. I also reinstalled one
third-party theme, Quiescence.

For the moment, Foo is not taking over the Notifications tab like it used
to, but something else worrying is now happening. I am seeing two
instances each, of four of the built-in themes, in the Display Style popup
menu of Notifications. These are Bezel, Brushed, Bubbles, and Smoke. This
doesn't strike me as a good thing!

Has anyone else seen the above two behaviours and are there fix(es) for
them? I've tried googling, here and in the wide world, for useful
information, but they're both very hard things to effectively search for.
I apologise if they have already been discussed here ad nauseam. I
realise that Growl has moved on since 1.2.2, but it's the latest version
for my OS, I believe?

Grateful TIA for any help!
