Yes, you're right. None of this would have been a problem at all except
that the memdisk config had to be /boot/grub/grub.cfg. Maybe we could
just dodge the problem by making it easier to rename that? We could
take either or both of two approaches:
1) add an environment variable that lets you change the name of
grub.cfg as well as its directory (as prefix does)
2) make it possible for grub-mkstandalone to build images with the
prefix set to something other than (memdisk)/boot/grub
