Thanks for the tip, it is true that variables can be saved via "export superusers". However, when the user switches from a sub-menu to a parent menu via "ESC",authentication is still required, and I don't think authentication should be performed when returning to the parent menu (unless one returns to the GRUB shell). I will re-propose a patch to fix this issue.
