problems with compilation

Hello all; I post this message about two topics: First of all,I,ve compiled and installed Gstat 2.3.5 under Linux Mandrake without options added, and everything seems to be ok; but when I start the program with a prof file, there is the following response:  [starting interactive mode] gstat: curses user interface not compiled in this version   I,m sure that I,ve have not chosen the option  --without-curses        exclude user interface anyway (default: detect)     then; why is it that I haven't got the user interface?   The next topic is that I want Gstat to run with Grass5, but now the compilation process has several problems.   ./configure --with-grass has the next effect: creating libcsf/src/makefile mkdir: cannot create directory `doc/tex': No such file or directory creating doc/tex/makefile sed: can't read ./doc/tex/makefile.in: No such file or directory ./config.status: doc/tex/makefile: No such file or directory creating src/config.h   Following, make answers: gcc -o gstat block.o data.o direct.o fig.o fit.o getest.o gls.o glvars.o gstat.o lex.o lm.o map2fig.o map2gd.o mapio.o maputils.o msim.o nsearch.o ossfim.o palet.o parse.o plot.o polygon.o pqueue.o predict.o random.o read.o reml.o report.o sample.o select.o sem.o sem_main.o sim.o stat.o ui.o userio.o utils.o vario.o vario_fn.o vario_io.o writecmd.o xvalid.o  -L../lib  -lmeschach  -lcsf -L/usr/local/grass5/lib -lgis -ldatetime -lz -lm /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [gstat] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/geoestadistica/Gstat/gstat-2.3.5/src' make: *** [src/gstat] Error 2   and  make install:   cp meschach/meschach.a lib/libmeschach.a (cd src; make) make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/geoestadistica/Gstat/gstat-2.3.5/src' gcc -o gstat block.o data.o direct.o fig.o fit.o getest.o gls.o glvars.o gstat.o lex.o lm.o map2fig.o map2gd.o mapio.o maputils.o msim.o nsearch.o ossfim.o palet.o parse.o plot.o polygon.o pqueue.o predict.o random.o read.o reml.o report.o sample.o select.o sem.o sem_main.o sim.o stat.o ui.o userio.o utils.o vario.o vario_fn.o vario_io.o writecmd.o xvalid.o  -L../lib  -lmeschach  -lcsf -L/usr/local/grass5/lib -lgis -ldatetime -lz -lm /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [gstat] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/geoestadistica/Gstat/gstat-2.3.5/src' make: *** [src/gstat] Error 2   and, of course the program doesn't install   Maybe it is a little hard to answer this message.
