John, I added doc/tex/makefile.in to the 2.3.12 sources, so it should work now.
It has been missing for a long time, as the gstat documentation is currently not distributed with the source. Not that it's not free, it's just that I never made an effort of it, and nobody asked me. Up to now, the configure step never broke on this file being missing. Best regards, -- Edzer
