Hi again, According to the tutorial, the steps to set up security on the first machine are: 1- Installing the SimpleCA ( as globus ) 2- Installing the security package and creating the machine's certificate. ( as root ) 3- Signing the machine certificate. ( as globus ) 4- Creating a certificate for a user. ( as bacon or whatever you want ) 5- Signint the user certificate. ( as globus )
So, you don't sign certificates as root, because the SimpleCA is installed at the globus account. You need one certificate for the machine ( created by root ) and another one for the user ( created by bacon, etc ). The one created as root is for the machine, not for the user.
