I have a group of approximately 10 people interested in Globus training. We have some managers that only need a 1/2 overview of the key components, and then we have some developers and sysadmins that would like about 3 days of in depth training.
At the end of the training I'd like to have a good idea what the major components of Globus do. Specifically we'd like to know about using WS-GRAM to submit jobs to our TORQUE/Moab clusters, as well as building Grid interfaces to some of our databases. Eventually we would like to be able to build Java applications that access data sources and computational resources on the grid (so it may pull data somewhere from the grid and use an analysis application that resides on a cluster somewhere to do analysis and then present the results to the user). We have been looking at GridwiseTech, but I am wondering if there are any other options that people out in the community might recommend. We really hope to learn the basics from an expert, and then be comfortable enough to research the rest on our own. -- Glen L. Beane Software Engineer The Jackson Laboratory Phone (207) 288-6153
