Hi everybody,
Running globus-url-copy in the Extended Block mode
(i.e. using parallel streams (-p) and buffer size
(-tcp-bs)) increases the GridFTP server's efficiency.
I wrote a java program that implements GridFTP using
the suitable classes form
org.globus.ftp.GridFTPClient. The program i wrote
transfer files through Third-party transfer
successfully.
I have a performance issue.
Using globus-url-copy i can transfer, between 2 nodes,
a 1GB-file in 2 mins using 16 parallel streams and
512K buffer size.
Using Java GridFTP version, the transfer needs 23 mins
using same number of parallel streams and same buffer
size.
The difference as u can c is huge (2 mins. vs 23
mins).
What i am missing? Does Java GridFTP have problems
concerning parallel streams and buffer size? It seems
as if the transfer is done neglecting the parallel
streams and buffer size.
Any hint??
Thanks in advance.
