Your solution sounds fine. I'll have to try to reproduce this to see if the quickstart needs to be updated.

Hi All.

I've been trying to build a test grid for educational purposes.
I'm following the instructions in the 4.0.x quickstart (http:// www.globus.org/toolkit/docs/4.0/admin/docbook/quickstart.html#q- toolkit) but when issuing commands to build the toolkit: ./ configure --prefix=/usr/local/globus-4.0.1/ \
   --with-iodbc=/usr/lib

and
make | tee installer.log

When compiling I got an error that has related with a "-lodbc" flag.

The problem solves if I change the configure with "./configure -- prefix=/usr/local/globus-4.0.1/ --with-iodbc=/usr" I tried this procedure on two different linux distributions (Fedora Core 6 and Ubuntu 7.10). I'm not sure if this is only in my installations or it is a general issue with iodbc2 packages in the pre-requisites. Could someone tell me if the solution I find is the correct one. And if it is, Does the quickstart guide has to be changed to avoid other users to have the same problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.
