Ah, okay. I thought the java GPT packages mostly specified "ant dist" in their build data, but I see that globus_java_ws_core and common use "ant deploy" as the installation target. So you can do it in one step with that, or do the dist/gar combination.

I'm not quite sure how to write this up for the advisories page - standalone java ws core installations aren't usually what we're targeting with updates. What do you think?

Well, you didn't even have to run the deploy-gar there, the ant dist
would've put it into GLOBUS_LOCATION already. Those instructions about the
GAR are there for actual GAR updates, like the one down at
wsmds-security-update-gars-4.0.0.

No, it wasn't sufficient to run 'ant dist', perhaps because I have
binary JWS Core deployment.

I don't think the globus_java_ws_core update can be reduced down to a
simple GAR. It's actually more like downloading an all new Java WS Core source installer, so you could just refer to the instructions for that, which I think involve the same "open the source, set GLOBUS_LOCATION, cd in,
then run ant" steps.

Well, I ran globus-deploy-gar on the resulting GAR file and those
nasty error messages about the signing policy files went away. Seems
to work for me.

Ha, that worked, thanks! Then I ran globus-deploy-gar as indicated on
the web page. Can the missing step be added to the web page? We
anticipate having to point users to the web page to get the advisories
for 4.0.6 and 4.0.7.

Thanks again,

If you don't have GPT installed, you should still be able to untar the
GPT
package, set your GLOBUS_LOCATION, then run "ant dist" inside the GPT
source
package.

How do I install an update package into a JWS core deployment? The Advisories web page says something about GAR files, but I don't find
any links to GAR update files, only soource.
