I think most commonly this error occurs because the environment isn't
properly setup according to:

http://www.globus.org/toolkit/docs/latest-stable/user/#gtuser-environment

The globus-user-env.{csh|sh} scripts set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment
variable that tells the linker to find Globus shared libraries in
$GLOBUS_LOCATION/lib.

If that's not it, then I suggest looking to make sure that
libglobus_gss_assist_gcc32.so.0 is installed in $GLOBUS_LOCATION/lib.

If it's missing, then there's a problem with your installation.
