Please do share me your hotlist also at [email protected] *Solaris Admin * *Vernon Hills IL* *6+ Months * *Phone Hire* Environment consists of T-Series hardware and also engineered systems, OS – Solaris 10 (Strong in 10 will be good, building domes, migrating domes, creating domes). • Moving to Solaris 11, new environment will be on engineered systems • Virtualization technologies important • Some familiarity with Solaris 11 • Migrate from a lot of hardware/architect 240 etc. • Interfacing with customers, defining the needs and capacity required on the new platforms for the migration, IBM business partner does the support. • Hands-on portion: Virtualization on engineered systems (IBM clustered support will be handled internally) • Good mix of hands on and hands off work for this systems engineer • More complexity will be handled by Oracle teams • Organized and independent, maintain contact with the 3rd party • 3 top skills: Virtualization, Ability for basic administrative skills with builds and configurations, documentation and working on SOP’s. • Solaris 11 – Minimize the number of independent standalone systems. • LDOMs, controlled domain or a guest domain – absolute requirement • T-Series – familiarity with the hardware systems • How many years with Solaris? 5+ years, but important is going to be current experience • Size of team – 3 people on the production side, lead for engineering systems, 1 spot for this position, IBM partners in the data center, administrators on IBM side handling the steady state. • Linux experience wouldn’t hurt. Don’t do virtualization or clustering in Linux at this point. Our Systems Engineer provides system, technology, infrastructure and process analysis in support of the business strategy. The individual in this role works with IT and business units to implement appropriate solutions. Qualifications • Extensive experience with Oracle/Sun Solaris (9, 10 and 11) required. • Experience supporting Solaris systems hosted in a virtual environment. • Sizing for server migrations to support server refresh project. • Experience with Solaris Zones, LDOMs and ZFS required. • Significant familiarity with T-Series servers • Must have excellent people and organizational skills to professionally interact with internal and external organizations. • Familiarity with Solaris Cluster and Oracle RAC • Experience in supporting and troubleshooting Solaris Networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, FTP, SSH, SNMP, IPMP, DLMP • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center • Linux administration (Redhat) • Shell scripting preferred Key Responsibilities • Adhere to, and work within the confines of IT policies, standards and procedures. • Develop, gather and measure relevant productivity and capacity metrics.
