Yeah, I'm well aware of that. I might be missing something, but I
don't see that they're supported. I'll be keeping my eyes open,
though.

99.999% of the time the PNG loader is called, the program just wants
to display an icon. At least for the Win32 aps on Win32 that'd use
this. The Gimp will continue to link in libpng, libjpeg, and etc., so
that won't be affected by this regression. Other popular Win32 GTK+
aps (eg. Xchat, Pidgin, Gnumeric, Workrave, Banshee, etc.) couldn't
care less about the tEXt chunks.
