gobject-introspection, and while Behdad will probably include
introspection.m4 in the next release, in the long term the dependency

Yes, it will be automatically included in tarballs. But for building from git
one needs to have the introspection.m4 file available on the system.

In short, you need to install gobject-introspection>= 0.6.7.

as far as i can tell, pango doesn't use introspection, and this was
added without including introspection.m4 to the pango tree, thus
rendering it unbuildable on a system that doesn't happen to have
introspection.m4 lying around in another convenient location.
