I wrote something like this for animating GObject's in general. So it doesn't take advantage of clutter or anything. It isn't ideal since you potentially damange a lot of window area as properties change (causing graphics stalls or frame dropping), but if used sparingly it can work. I find it handy for animating changes in adjustments, progress bars, and such.
