 Maybe it will be a good idea to put a want ad in the "Project Help Wanted"
section
of sourceforge, or even in the newsgroup.

If you split the core and the gui, do you wish to have new guis like Qt,
Motif, Tcl/Tk ... ?
In this case is "gtk-gnutella" still a good name ?
Is it not better to have several projects or sub-projects (core, gui1,
gui2) ?

I will be surely more easy to recruit tcl/tk developpers than gtk.

Have you an idea of how connect the core and the guis,
calls with dynamic shared lib, socket/share mem, something like corba ?

I think that shared libs can be the first step.
