Read the output really carefully.  The first time I did it there was an
error that I didn't notice and I was frantically searching for the
binary too.

The error I got has to do with 'yacc' i think.  I didn't have it
installed.  After installing that it worked fine. It's funny as I never
needed it to build gtk-g before we moved to Configure.

The error message should be more obvious, I didn't even notice it the
first couple of times I tried to build.
