That's a rudimentary built-in search for treeviews. I remember that I activated recently when I fiddled with Glade. If it's useless or annoying I can turn it off again. Actually, the treeview for search results allow searching by regex. However, the Gtk+ developers forgot a "next-match" key, so it's not horribly useful. Also sometimes the input bar never appears but I have no clue why.
