Alt-C and Ctrl-C should actually not be used for this because either are
usually bound to copying. I thought I had already removed this because It would
be bad to lose all current results when you just expected to copy some item.

I cannot reproduce this.

It certainly shouldn't. If you hit Alt-C multiple types, does the the button
ever get the focus? If the same key is bound to multiple items, the GUI should
cycle through them. The binding could be changed to Alt-R. Maybe that solves
the issue for you. Of course no key combination is ultimately satisfying or
safe against clashes.
