:Although it seems to be a good and stable p2p filesharing program and said not
to
:cause many problems, there have been some issues with the program on my end.
I'm
:using a 2011 acer aspire 5733z laptop with windows xp pro sp2. the gtk-gnutella
:website says that the program can be turned on and left for days. but when I
:leave the program running I have the following issues:
:
:- windows navigation slow and sometimes freezes
:- internet explorer 8 navigation slow and sometimes freezes

This is probably due to the bandwidth utilization. You are probably exhausting
your upload pipe, and Windows XP is known to have its deskktop freeze or slow
down when the networking layer is stuck. Have IE8 navigation slow down or
freeze is surely due to bandwidth becoming scarce.

You should configure your gtk-gnutella bandwidth preferences correctly,
depending on your actual IP line caracteristics.

:- occasional blue screen of death crashes when I try to use my computer
normally
:while program is running.

No idea, here. A blue screen indicates a bug in the OS. It could be that
Windows exhausts its networking resources rapidly due to intensive traffic.

You said you were using Shareaza before, but you must be aware that the
level of Gnutella protocol support in Shareaza is not as good as in
gtk-gnutella. In particular, Shareaza lacks push-proxy, GUESS and DHT support.
These last two alone require more UDP traffic bandwidth in gtk-gnutella,
meaning that you really need to look at the bandwidth used for uploading.

Cheers,
Raphael
