Did you mean we cannot use immodules within gtk-directfb? It will be very pity if it's true.

And I noticed that the immmodules binary of gtk2-directfb are all linked to libgdk-directfb and libgtk-directfb.

input modules are X11-specific. They aren't used with any other GDK
